The Old Chore

John Hildebidle

Co-winner of 1982 Poetry Center Book Award

"The poems of this book rush off the page and become alterations to our landscape...In the best sense this is poetry we can use."
—Dark Horse

"Hildebidle's words and internal lyrics have a gentle, if sad, musicality akin to the photographer's art—a freeze frame on time."
—Karla Hammond

"Hildebidle's poetry has the unforced elegance that comes from a mind in turn with itself, that thrills to the world beyond itself, and seeks ways to touch other minds, other lives."
—Adrian Oktenberg
