Alice James Books Announces Relocation to Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, ME

We are thrilled to share that after nearly thirty years of programming partnership with the University of Maine at Farmington, Alice James Books has relocated to independent offices in New Gloucester, Maine.

This is a major breakthrough for the press! Our team is excited to concentrate our focus more fully on AJB’s core values and mission-driven work. The move comes at the moment we are about to celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2023, highlighting what’s always been important to us: publishing books that matter by poets who have something important to say.

As we officially take up residence in New Gloucester, Maine, we roundly celebrate the major growth we’ve experienced over the last decade, in particular, the launch of the Alice James Award, our programmatic development, the increase in the number of books we publish each year, and our renewed commitment to supporting poets beyond the first book.

We are grateful for the bedrock of support from the members of our board of directors, public and private institutions, our circle of committed donors, and our loyal readers and friends. AJB’s advancements are only possible because of our community’s enduring commitment, generosity, and love for our mission, books, and authors.

Our team of staff and board members is grateful to all of the remarkable members of our community who sustain the important work of Alice James—understanding its critical importance to America’s cultural and artistic landscape—as we publish books that matter, preserve a place of belonging for poets who inspire, broaden our collective interpretation of the American poetic voice, and provide a platform from which to elevate voices and meaningful books of poems from the margins to mainstream.

You can now find AJB’s Maine headquarters at:

Alice James Books
Auburn Hall
60 Pineland Drive, Suite 206
